The Pick Me Up is a Monday morning newsletter filled with advice, personal stories, and tips to help you get out of bed and jumpstart your week.
I keep waiting for Monday to start over.
But then Monday comes and I find myself messing up again.
It’s because every Sunday, I go to sleep telling myself:
Tomorrow, I’ll finally get a fresh start.
I’ll have a protein smoothie, I’ll drink more water, I’ll delete TikTok, I’ll change out of my pajamas before 1pm.
And then Monday happens and I pop open a bag of chocolate chips for breakfast and my only beverage of the day is a large iced coffee and of course I’m wearing a t-shirt that’s seen better days.
And if this Monday was a bust, if this Monday wasn’t the most perfect and productive day, well then it’s all ruined, isn’t it? And if it’s all ruined on a Monday, it sure will be twisted to tally up any progress the rest of the week. So why not continue on this sloppy little way?
You know what my problem is?
Waiting for the next Monday to start over is an excuse to be lazy for 6-more days.
Yesterday wasn’t the start I wanted for my week.
But today is Tuesday and it just so happens to be a Tuesday that feels like a Monday.
So ah-ha! Look at that! Why not try again today?
And if today isn’t a smash, there’s tomorrow?
Wednesdays feel like you’re bowling with bumpers.
Thursdays feel like you’re waiting for your best friend to land at the airport.
Fridays feel like you’re eating a big spaghetti dinner with your jeans unbuttoned.
Hey, there’s Saturday and Sunday too.
No need to put so much pressure on a Monday.
Right now, you have Tuesday. Tuesday could be your day too.
In this issue: Keeping this newsletter short this week. I hope your inbox isn’t a scary place today.

⚡Instant Pick Me Ups
📚: My friend gifted me this book and I read it to Gemma every night. It’s our bed time book and I love it tremendously.
📄: How ChatGPT helps me make more money.
🎧: Into this podcast so far. I’ve never heard this story before.
🎵: Fun little song mashup to get the ready going.
🛍️: I’m on a quest to get my style back. I think I’m getting closer! I wore these silver shorts all week (inside of black biker shorts) and I felt so confident in them. Plus I think my new look are t-shirts with this underneath them.
I really don’t want to overspend on gifts this Holiday season so I’m shopping clearance sections and sales now to stock up on items I want to gift people. Make a list of everyone you’re getting a holiday gift for. Spend a little bit of time brainstorming gift ideas for them or use a free tool like this. Then hunt for deals before the holiday season comes - things might be more expensive! Plus this is my favorite gift site ever.
I’m into a black and white shoe thing right now. Have my eyes on these!
🛠️: I’m really proud to share that my AI-powered Maid of Honor Speechwriting tool hit the #2 most popular new tool on Product Hunt. We now get to put this badge up on the website!
👋Hi, It’s Me!
Summer is ending. Do you ever think about how you have changed in the last three months? Even if it doesn’t seem like you have, you have. You’re not the same person you were May 1st. It’s impossible. More on that here.
No apartment update. We have 20 more days to decide if we’re going to stay in our one bedroom apartment for another year or move some place else. If you’ve been following the adventure, there aren’t a lot of options. Especially because i’m being really stubborn about leaving the 1-mile radius that we live in right now.
I spent the entire afternoon yesterday searching for a friend on the internet that I haven’t heard from in years. I’m not sure what I was looking to find. Maybe that this person is happy, growing, alive? While I was searching, I got lost in these detailed memories of our times together that I haven’t thought about in a decade. I didn’t find much and maybe that’s okay. I wasn’t really looking to find her. I was using this as an excuse to relive a part of our friendship that I greatly miss.
Back next Monday. Until then, say hello:
I Keep Waiting for Monday
